latest travels.

november 22nd through the 29th were spent in good ol' honkey tonk alabama. after flying and lay overing for 12 hours we made it to the home turf. i think the practical jokes were at an all time high this year. all of the cousins being 21+ has made it a lot easier to be "real" with eachtoher and filter ourselves less. my stepmother on the other hand... whew... that is a whole new topic. life is good but has dealt me a very odd hand. i think i can deal and figure out my little niche with my dad's choice in family. anyway, i dont have as many photos as last year because i dont have as awesome of a camera. so heres what i captured:

alabama.
jason (melissa's BF), melissa, myself and bobby louie.

alabama.
dad.

spoons contract.

spoons... need i say more?

blythe.
i took some photos of kane in the forest.

.... i had A LOT of fun.

in other news.... i turn 25 in 6 days. i kinda dont want to =(. my mom is coming out here on the 4th to celebrate with us. they just opened a macaroni grill so i think were going there for dinner. i managed to stop by the anthro in alabama and swiped a cute pink dress to wear on the "big" night... ugh... 25! seems like i just turned 21 yesterday!!!! bah humbug.

EL FIN!

i just finished "breaking dawn" the fourth [and final] book in the twilight saga. i was completely enthralled with the series from start to finish. i read something like 2500 pages in two weeks! let me be honest here and say that i havent finished a book since high school. how embarrassing. if it took this to jump-start a new passion in my life, SO BE IT. now i cant wait to go to alabama on saturday and see the movie on sunday! im also taking two black panther books with me to see if i can wrap myself up in those. i suppose i will bring ishmael to re-read... now that my brain doesnt have anymore coagulation of dumb floating around bleakly (causing reader's block).

puh, its 1:02 in the am and rob has a phone meeting i have to wake up for at 7:30 and some crazy gym class is at night so i should probably get off of this. im still on a book high... hmmmmmmm.

november 11th 2008

today is kyle bierma's birthday! i texted him at 12am, "happy birthday, BE SAFE!" see there's history behind his birthdays... usually something terrible happens. one year he broke his back, ankle, heel and wrist riding dirt bikes (i think it was his 18th). this past year he rolled his truck and his girlfriend was ejected from the passenger seat... she was nearly killed. so i hope this one treats him how he should be treated.

yesterday we went on a hike through the jungles at polulu lookout. it reminded me of hiking kauai all over again. we tromped through marshes and saw boar dens =( we also saw an old tank that our friend said he thinks is from when pearl harbor was bombed. each island had a barrack set up to protect them from attack. it was pretty wild and QUITE the workout. once we all came home i cooked fajitas and an apple pie... YUM! i definitely perfected the recipe.

i also just booked our tickets home for christmas. we will be there for almost 2 weeks! i am going to stock up on food, creature comforts that dont exist out here (IE: BAKERS), spend some SERIOUS quality time with important people and hang with the family! im excited!

anyway, im off to run some errands. have a good day!

Nov 7, 2008

november 7th 2008.

today consisted of waking up early to finish the laundry i started and continue reading the book that has overpowered any thought in my mind since i started it. ugh, i feel so silly admitting it... but i started reading the twilight series by stephenie meyer. i was never a fan of the series fad (IE: the boxcar children, goosebumps, harry potter... etc). the fact that this series was about teenage vampires totally struck my fancy unfortunately. needless to say i finished 500 pages in 2 days... i was inconceivably engulfed, ridiculous. but now i see where true blood picked up their story... kinda bummed about that.

were about to go work out but im going to see if i can sway the driver to stop at borders so i can pick up new moon... the sequel to twilight... ughhh addiction is a terrible thing!

tonight im going to photograph some rockett stuff to throw up on ebay (along with some personal items to pay off that kenner that i just purchased). thats my life!

alabama in 14 days! im so excited.

Nov 6, 2008

november 6th 2008.

this week weve been lagging on grocery shopping so finally we went to the market today to get some fresh fruit and veggies. the grocery stores cant compare to this selection we have here. :::SPOILED::: ive definitely opened a few new doors for some "island" fruit. rambutan, persimmon, papaya, dragon fruit and mangosteen frequent our kitchen windowsill these days. i bought 5 mangos this week :-X eep! some dude said "you know, mangos have just as many calories as a baked potato..." well whatever man! im vegan so i eat far less calories than the average human anyway. usually ill have one for breakfast or dessert. okay im rambling.

we worked out for an hour (ran 3 miles, did 120 crunches and worked on my arms). made "chicken" fajitas for dinner and now im letting a chocolate peanut butter pie set in the fridge. whew. seemed like a long day.

g'night!

Nov 4, 2008

november 4th 2008.

today barack obama was elected the next president of the united states. people are talking and everyone is riled up. from my point of view a president is a president. rob and i now have to pay more in taxes, others may pay less. some may call him a socialist for wanting health care imposed across the nation, i on the other hand would like health care to be enforced since i havent been to a doctor in 4 years and i know travis would appreciate it. "MUWAHAHAHA ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT!"-us leaders. its all relative (i know people are going to hate me for saying so). in all im mainly excited to see what happens with the fact that he is african american. quite a few peoples panties are in a twist right now. the progression theyre against is what will keep them in the past, their bad. im sure few of them knew that obama is related to 6 us presidents (including BOTH bushs). ignorance is bliss i suppose. END RANT. onto the days events:

1. gym, snorkel, stepped on a sea urchin, errands and then...

2. i made a homemade crumbly apple pie for rob. i received my pyrex pie plate so i guess we celebrated?
food.

3. i made a big pot of homemade chili. i really dont know why we ate out so much in los angeles (sheer laziness and convenience i guess?)
food.

4. ive kind of been hiding the fact that i dyed my hair brown until i felt comfortable with it. it was just too fried to attempt growing it out blonde! i want long hair regardless of the color... soooo VOILA!
dark.
dark

5. bought my first kenner! :-X (ebay, cheap and blonde... i was sold) she needs a little bit of work... but aint nothin i cant handle!

bye for now!

blythe update.

i thought i would start blogging my customizations more because theres nothing i hate more than a stingy customizer... here it goes. *SHARE YOUR TIPS PEOPLE!*

i bought a few ounces of mohair before i moved from california with intensions to reroot a few dolls that i intended on buying after i sold a few other dolls... whew that was a mouth full. needless to say i have this as a list of dolls waiting:

-rosie red encore *in progress*
-pdaubrey encore *in box, just received last week*
-msr *in box, just received last week*
-pde *in pieces neglected, but i promise i will get to her!*

rosie red is first.

i used a tutorial i found on tib about how to take her apart since ive taken a saw to two dolls and that was far too traumatizing to saw any others and i cant have all RBL's. i submerged her head (with the body removed) in very hot water. i left it in the water until it was cool. i jiggled her face plate until it slowly peeled off of her scalp. FLANGE IN TACT! BADA BINGGGG! no exacto needed. i had plans on doing a saran reroot on her but i figured she already had a brown scalp and i had some delicious brown mohair (mohair by debbie) to use so what the heck?!

after my first reroot on signa
signa skelton.
i decided i wanted to use A LOT less mohair. which meant a lot more work. the tinier the plug the more effort. so ive realized this reroot is going to occupy many late nights in front of the TV.

i started tonight. i had to patch a minor tear in her scalp which was caused by heaps of melted gross saran that looked like a needle jammed while she was being rerooted. for the patch i just used a piece of cotton fabric cut to size and i spread mod podge all over it to seal it into place. it doesnt show through on top and it looks fairly clean underneath. i am happy with its outcome and it holds very well.

(the tear)
blythe.
(the patch)
blythe.
i whipped out my handy dandy rerooting toolbox (which consists of a super dollfie <--sp? rerooting needle, a crochet hook, tiny fabric scissors, a chopstick, floss threaders, tweezers, hair clips and i think thats all?).

blythe.

to begin i poured a bowl of room temperature water and started dipping and toothing apart fine strands of mohair, tying them in a double knot at the tip and smashing them under a nail polish remover bottle (the knots were slipping out). after they dried for a few minutes i would dab some mod podge on the knots with the chopstick. eventually they dried and i snipped the edge that was unneeded off and voila i had this:

blythe.

so i stated making my path for my partline on my patch and i used my floss threader to thread the dollfie needle with mohair and then pulled it on through. so now i just need 20 hours of free time! hahahahaha.

blythe.

ta-ta.

dear david duchovny,

i totally have an old dude crush on you... you are sexy as hell. <-- did i really just say that?

why are you such a babe? when i see a photo of you youre not as babe'ish as you are when i watch you on californication. you even knock robs socks off! oh you and your witty satire... it could make any girl swoon. i think this has something to do with the fact that your character actually took over your real life. god damn téa leoni is one lucky lady, or maybe not so lucky?

ON A SIDE NOTE... why does our upstairs neighbor remind me of zach braff? AND true blood is a really good series. fake ass southern accents and vampires?!?! come on!!!

TOO MUCH TV MAKE KALI CRAZY.

halloween.

its been the first halloween in 4 years (i think) that i whole heartedly celebrated. not working at rob's mom's store was GREAT. i baked cupcakes and home made peanut butter cups (as per rob's request).

cupcakes!

cupcakes!

our neighbor came over and borrowed our cheese grater. her and her husband just moved here a month ago from LA... weird. she also invited us to their halloween party. we then proceeded to carve pumpkins and dress up like alice cooper. yep, both of us... "the coopers" is what our neighbor called us (sadly i forgot to take pictures). i think in all we spent $20 on our costumes and decorations. that felt pretty awesome as well. i isohunted some spooky music and we scared hawaiian kids all night. it was awesome.

we have neighbors living above us too (in the ohana-its kinda of like a studio apartment above or below the main house... i know weird, all hawaiian homes have them for their extended family). at one point in the night we moved down and hung out with them. it was the first time weve really talked to them since we moved here. tara and andrew are their names. they are a really nice couple from vermont. both teachers and very passionate about what they do. we had some drinks and i think it was the first time i had a drink in 3 months or so. i was pretty wasted after two cocktails and proceeded to try and catch geckos and make a fool of myself. we missed the neighbors party, but oh wellll. c'est la vie.

today i woke up hungover. it was such a foreign feeling that i couldnt put my finger on what was wrong. i woke up at 6 to yard sale, had bubble guts, drank a chai and then felt sick as all hell. finally i ate some breakfast which made me feel a little better. totally a bunk yard sale'ing day though. megh. although two blythes came in the mail (i sold two in order to gain two)!! hooray.

sigh, its the best when it rains at night here. its so calming... almost like a lullaby cooling everything off for the night. so long.
